Modernizace společnosti se stále výrazněji a ve stále globálnějším měřítku vepisuje do území. Výsledkem modernizace je fragmentace společnosti i území. Tato fragmentace je neudržitelná společensky, ekonomicky i environmentálně. Veřejná podpora individuální automobilové dopravy a volného trhu s půdou i s nemovitostmi tyto problémy výrazně zhoršuje. Překonání mnohorozměrné fragmentace je klíčovým úkolem dnešní doby. Nezbytným prvním krokem je fundamentální obnova veřejného prostoru jakožto ohniska společenského dění, které bude i místem řešení společenských rozporů.

Modernization of the society is ever more intense and in ever more global scale inscribed into the territory. The result is fragmentation of society and of territory. The fragmentation is socially, economically and environmentally unsustaineble. Public support of private car transportation and of free market with land and real estate is only worsening these problems. Overcoming the multifaceted fragmentation is key issue of contemporary times. The necessary first step is the fundamental reconstruction of public space as a focus of social events and as a place of the resolution of social conflicts as well.
